  • POST#2020-02 Quality Supervisor

    POSITION TITLE: Quality Supervisor

    PAY GRADE:  Competitive Wages, Benefits and Pension

    DEPARTMENT:  Quality Control (200)

    REPORTS TO:  Quality Systems Manager

     

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Supervise all functions pertaining to effective operations of the quality inspection department

    • Implement, maintain and update policies and procedures related to the operations of these areas

    • Actively promote and implement changes within the inspection area to maintain and drive effective operations

    • Effectively supervise all quality inspectors

    • Review and approve First Article Inspections

    • Co-ordinate effective interface of the quality functions with all other company departments to ensure that production schedules are maintained, and other departments receive timely and effective service.

    • General administration and adherence to established departmental budgets

    • Actively participate in incident investigations as necessary

    • Other duties as assigned by the Quality Systems Manager

     

    ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Effective and timely management of incoming inspection, in-process inspection, final inspection and vendor surveillance functions and the control of them through-out the factory

    • Effective management of supplier corrective actions

    • Timely and accurate reporting

    • Obtain Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada

    • Maintenance of secure and confidential company information

    • Adherence to Colt Canada Corporation’s policies and procedures

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Post-secondary education in the quality management field or equivalent in experience

    • Minimum of 5 years in a quality environment

    • Minimum 5 years’ supervisory experience

    • Knowledge of manufacturing practices in an ISO Certified environment (9001:2015 preferred)

    • Excellent communication skills

    • Demonstrated understanding of effective supervision techniques

    • Internal – all internal departments and employees

    • Oversee/direct team of 6 employees

    • External – various venders and suppliers, DND QAR

     

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY ISSUES, CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Office environment – Use of computer, keyboarding, sitting, analysis, attention to detail

    • Manufacturing Environment (PPE Required) – lifting up to 20lbs occasionally, 50/50 sitting/standing, moderate/loud work environment

    • Travel – potential domestic travel, up to 5%

  • POST#2019-14  CAD Draftsperson

    POSITION TITLE: CAD Draftsperson

    DEPARTMENT:   Product Support Engineer

    REPORTS TO:   Engineering Manager

    COMPENSATION:   Competitive salary, including benefits, pension, and profit sharing, to be based on experience.

     

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Create and modify 3D parametric solid models using Autodesk Inventor including:

    • Individual parts and assemblies up to 300 parts.

    • Complex geometry with associative patterns / dimensions

    • Formula and parametric driven features

    • Validate fits and interferences

    • Creation of models from vendor samples

    • Prepare and update 2D detail drawings:

    • Ensure compliance with ASME Y14.5-2009 drawing standards

    • Application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

    • Apply material, coating, heat-treat and process notes as applicable

    • Verify Bill of Materials for accuracy and availability

    • Process redline updates to drawings with changes in revisions and file registered copies

    • Prepare and update Engineering Change Request (ECR) documentation based on input from engineers

    • Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management and revision control software

     

    ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Obtain Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada

    • Maintenance of secure and confidential company information

    • Adherence to Colt Canada Corporation’s policies and procedures

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Min 3 year Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent

    • 1-2 years of CAD experience – applicable co-op experience will be considered

    • Experience with Mechanical design and assemblies is preferred

    • Experience with GD&T is an asset

    • Word Processing and Spreadsheet experience (MS Office) required

    • Internal – Engineering, Document Control, Production, Toolroom personnel, Operations

    • External – 3rd party vendors and some customer communication

    • Office environment – extensive hours sitting, typing and concentration

    • Manufacturing Environment (PPE Required) – less then 5% of time spent in manufacturing environment

  • POST#2019-11  Assembler

    POSITION TITLE:    Assembler I

    DEPARTMENT:        Manufacturing (100)

    REPORTS TO:          Production Supervisor

    SHIFT:

    Afternoons – Monday-Friday 3pm-11pm

    COMPENSATION:  Competitive wages, benefits and pension

     

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Perform packaging

    • Can perform sub-assemblies in accordance with instructions provided (i.e. work instructions/pack lists/ODS)

    • Can use hand tools as specified below

    • Can use arbor press for sub-assembly work.

    • Must meet production standards

    • Must be able to read and interpret Operational Detail sheets and work instructions

     

    ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Obtain Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada

    • Maintenance of secure and confidential company information

    • Adherence to Colt Canada Corporation’s policies and procedures

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent

    • Experience working in an ISO certified environment

    • Must have experience working in an assembly environment

    • Experience with use of hand tools: hammer, punch, screwdriver, scissors, allen keys, pliers

    • Experience with use of machinery is an asset: arbor press, heat sealer and staking device

    • RPAL Licensing – is an asset

  • POST#2019-10  CNC Operator

    POSITION TITLE:    CNC Operator I

    DEPARTMENT:        Manufacturing (100)

    REPORTS TO:           Production Supervisor

    SHIFT:

       - Midnights: Monday-Thursday 9pm-7am

       - Afternoons: Monday-Friday 3pm-11pm

    COMPENSATION:  Competitive wages, benefits and pension

     

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Operates CNC mills to close tolerances

    • Measures and checks parts for surface roughness and geometric parameter conformance

    • Performs set-up using pre-established programs

    • Selects and changes tools

    • Enters and checks offsets

    • Basic machine maintenance

    • Cross train on CNC lathes and conventional machines as required

    • Other duties as assigned

     

    ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Obtain Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada

    • Maintenance of secure and confidential company information

    • Adherence to Colt Canada Corporation’s policies and procedures

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Ontario Secondary School Diploma

    • Machinist certification is an asset; but not required

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a CNC Operator in a metal fabrication environment, manufacturing parts with tight tolerances

    • Experience working in an ISO certified environment

    • Manufacturing Environment (PPE Required) – lifting up to 50 lbs, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, and hearing protection is required. Extended periods of standing, and completing repetitive tasks (loading/unloading machines, moving materials and completed parts etc.)

    POSITION TITLE:   CNC Set-Up Operator

    DEPARTMENT:      Manufacturing (100)

    REPORTS TO:        Production Supervisor

    SHIFT:

      - Midnights: Monday-Thursday 9pm-7am

      - Afternoons: Monday-Friday 3pm-11pm

    COMPENSATION:  Competitive wages, benefits and pension

     

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Operates various CNC machines, including lathes, drills, and presses to manufacture metal parts

    • Assists in set-up of machines based established programs

    • Routine cleaning, and light maintenance of machinery

    • Review and follow work instructions relating to Colt Canada’s Quality Management System

    • Measures and checks parts for dimension and finish quality

    • Change tools, including offsets, as required

    • May review and edit programs as instructed

    • Other duties as assigned

     

    ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Perform duties in a safe and responsible manner

    • Obtain Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada

    • Maintenance of secure and confidential company information

    • Adherence to Colt Canada Corporation’s policies and procedures

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School diploma or equivalent

    • Post-secondary diploma in CNC machining/programming an asset

    • Minimum 4 years’ experience as a CNC operator in a metal fabrication environment

    • Strong working knowledge of CNC machinery

    • Excellent attention to detail

    • Ability to understand blueprints, drawings and GD&T notations

    • Ability to organize work

    • Able to work as part of a team to complete assigned jobs and solve problems
