  • POST#2019-09  CNC Setup Operator - Machinist

    POSITION TITLE: CNC Set-Up Operator

    PAY GRADE:  H6 ($19.82 - $29.74 hourly)

    DEPARTMENT:  Manufacturing (100)

    REPORTS TO:  Production Supervisor

    SHIFT:   Midnights – Monday-Friday 9pm-7am, possibility of afternoons

     

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Operates various CNC machines, including lathes, drills, and presses to manufacture metal parts

    • Assists in set-up of machines based established programs

    • Routine cleaning, and light maintenance of machinery

    • Review and follow work instructions relating to Colt Canada’s Quality Management System

    • Measures and checks parts for dimension and finish quality

    • Change tools, including offsets, as required

    • May review and edit programs as instructed

    • Other duties as assigned

     

    ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Perform duties in a safe and responsible manner

    • Obtain, and maintain, Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada

    • Maintenance of secure and confidential company information

    • Adherence to Colt Canada Corporation’s policies and procedures

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School diploma or equivalent

    • Post-secondary diploma in CNC machining/programming an asset

    • Minimum 4 years’ experience as a CNC operator in a metal fabrication environment

    • Full working knowledge of CNC lathes

    • Ability to understand blue prints, drawings and GD&T notations

    • Ability to organize work

    • Excellent attention to detail

    • Able to work as part of a team to complete assigned jobs and solve problems

    • All employees of Colt Canada employees including lead hands, tool room personnel, manufacturing engineering technologists, and quality inspectors

     

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY ISSUES, CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Manufacturing environment requiring extended periods of standing

    • Regular lifting of parts, occasional lifting of up to 50lbs

    • Safety shoes, glasses, and hearing protection are required

  • POST#2019-10  Toolmaker/Machinist

    POSITION TITLE: Tool Maker/Machinist

    PAY GRADE:   Starting at $25+ depending on experience

    DEPARTMENT: Tool Room

    REPORTS TO:  Production Supervisor

     

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Frequent communication between Engineers, Management, and Production Teams is expected

    • Makes, assembles, repairs and tests fixtures, jigs, gauges, hand tools and special purpose machines (i.e. Micrometers)

    • Follow technical drawings, sketches and other data to plan sequences of operation for fabricating tools, fixtures, assemblies etc.

    • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications

    • Set up/operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, and various hand tools with tight tolerances.

    • Collaborate in the development and design of new tools and fixtures

    • Able to read blueprints and produce prototypes and models

    • Keeping shop clean

    • Other tasks and duties as assigned

     

    ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Accurate and timely completion of all tasks and projects

    • Maintaining positive interdepartmental relationships

    • Obtain Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada

    • Maintenance of secure and confidential company information

    • Adherence to Colt Canada Corporation’s policies and procedures

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • College diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent in work experience

    • Certified/licensed Tool and Die Maker

    • 5 + years of tool making experience in an ISO Certified manufacturing environment

    • 5 years’ experience machining

    • Able to analyze information to make decisions and solve problems

    • Ability to exercise sound judgement in decision making

    • Attention to detail

    • Strong collaboration skills

    • Knowledgeable on GD&T

     

    CONTACTS AND RELATIONSHIPS:

    • Internal – Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Assembly departments

    • External – none

     

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY ISSUES, CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Metal Fabrication manufacturing environment – PPE required

    • Able to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis

    • Overtime including weekends may be required

     

    INTERNAL TRAINING NEEDS:

    • WHMIS

    • CAM/CAD software

    • Colt Canada policies and procedures
