  • POST#2019-08  Weapon Documentation Specialist

    POSITION TITLE: Weapon Documentation Specialist

    DEPARTMENT:  Product Support Engineering (500)

    REPORTS TO:  Engineering Manager

     

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Author publications based on research material gathered from existing documents, colleagues, customers and subject matter experts

    • In the context of Technical Publications such as User Manuals, Maintenance Manuals, Parts Diagrams, etc. review and validate:

       - product configurations for completeness

       - indentation level of parts and sub-assemblies in product bill of materials

       - applicable ancillaries and accessories

    • Review and edit manuscripts and final compositions prior to submission

    • Specify graphical content for publications

    • Interface with customer and sub-contractors in all phases of publication production

    • Additional Responsibilities:

       - Support the cataloguing and revision control of Engineering Drawings, Technical Specifications and Technical Publications

       - Administrative Reporting

       - Other duties as assigned

     

    ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Timely and accurate delivery of all publications and taskings

    • Obtain Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance and CGP Clearance from the Government of Canada

    • Maintenance of secure and confidential company information

    • Adherence to Colt Canada Corporation’s policies and procedures

     

    SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Strong technical writing skills with an emphasis on accurate and concise delivery of information

    • Mechanical aptitude to understand the subject product and develop content is a must

    • Background in small arms with an emphasis on military small arms an asset

    • Written or verbal French language skills an asset

    • Minimum 2 years related work experience in authoring technical content, work instructions, user manuals or similar

    • Strong computer skills required:

       - MS Office - Word/Excel/Access

       - Adobe Acrobat

       - Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software an asset (e.g. SAP, EPICOR or similar)

    • Detail oriented and analytical

    • Able to follow processes and instructions

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Flexible, organized, team oriented

    CONTACTS AND RELATIONSHIPS:

    • Internal – all departments and personnel

    • External – various customers including government, military and police contacts

     

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY ISSUES, CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Office environment (Colt Canada and customer)

    • Interaction with product, tools and gauges

    • Interaction with Colt Canada personnel, weapon techs and customer to develop and validate content

    • Manufacturing, assembly, range and lab areas – PPE required

    • Must be able to lift boxes and guns weighing up to 50lbs

    • Some travel to customer and vendor locations required (<5% of time)

    • Work within the Colt Canada team to continuously improve our internal processes and procedures

    • PAL (restricted and non-restricted)

    • Standard First Aid

    • Range Procedure

    • Office infrastructure

    • Colt Canada policies and procedures

     

     

  • POST#2019-05  CNC Operator I /Machinist II

    POSITION TITLE: CNC Operator I/Machinist II

    PAY GRADE:  H4-H5 ($16.85 -$25.27/$18.01-$27.01 +shift premium)

    DEPARTMENT:  Manufacturing (100)

    REPORTS TO:  Production Supervisor

    SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Afternoons: 3pm-11pm and Midnights 11pm-7am

     

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Operates CNC mills to close tolerances

    • Measures and checks parts for surface roughness and geometric parameter conformance

    • Performs set up using pre-established programs

    • Selects and changes tools

    • Edits programs as instructed

    • Enters and checks offsets

    • Basic machine maintenance

    • Cross train on CNC lathes and conventional machines as required

    • Other duties as assigned

     

    ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Obtain Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada

    • Maintenance of secure and confidential company information

    • Adherence to Colt Canada Corporation’s policies and procedures

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Ontario Secondary School Diploma

    • Machinist certification an asset; but not required

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a CNC Operator in a metal fabrication environment, manufacturing parts with tight tolerances

    • Experience working in an ISO certified environment

     

    CONTACTS AND RELATIONSHIPS:

    • Internal – All department and personnel, specifically Supervisor, Lead Hands, Machine Operators, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Control etc.

    • External – Auditors, suppliers

     

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY ISSUES, CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Manufacturing/machine shop environment – PPE required (glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection)

    • Able to stand for extended periods of time

    • Able to lift up to 50lbs

    • Able to complete repetitive tasks (loading/unloading machines, moving materials and completed parts etc.)

     

    INTERNAL TRAINING NEEDS:

    • Colt Canada policies and procedures, as per Job Specific Training Criteria

    • WHMIS
